ITAL at 18th CSUN

Conveying Contextual Information Using Non-Speech Audio Cues Reduces Workload

Matt Bronstad, AccessFirst researcher, is conducting experiments to test alternate ways to convey structural information in documents to users with visual impairments. Mr. Bronstad will present his findings at the 18th CSUN Conference on Technology and Persons with Disabilities in spring 2003.

Accessibility and Usability: What's the Relationship?

John Slatin, ITAL director, and Kay Lewis, AccessFirst team leader, gave a presentation entitled "Challenges of Accessible Design" at the 17th CSUN Conference on Technology and Persons with Disabilities in Los Angeles on March 20, 2002. Slatin and Lewis presented findings from a study in which people with and without disabilities tested the accessibility and usability of selected Web sites from the 2001 Accessibility Internet Rally (AIR) for UT Austin. ITAL's AccessFirst program conducted the study in collaboration with Austin Usability.
